Making It!

Three pieces of
work forming a central focus to the exhibition. The gold male figure
was modelled by Anoushka Giltsoff who, until recently, was part of the
small team responsible for the development and realisation of Rag Doll
Productions' Teletubbies' costumes. The gold figure was a final year
project and was modelled in clay from life.
In the centre is
a faithful copy of a medieval triptych in the National Gallery made
by Penny Stapleton. Penny followed the medieval process as carefully
as possible, making her own gesso, egg tempera paints and learning techniques
of gilding and wood turning as integral elements of the project.
The copy of a fresco
fragment from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling was carried out
by Melinda Gibbons who now successfully works as a freelance painting
specialist for the interior decoration industry.
